Gemeinsam Backen: Süße Quark-Rosinen-Brötchen für kleine Bäcker

Baking Together: Sweet Quark and Raisin Rolls for Little Hands

Baking with kids2+y 33 min 4 VeggieMedium
Contains: Gluten, Dairy, Egg, Sugar

This recipe is ideal for spending cozy hours together in the kitchen. The soft dough barely sticks to the hands, making it easy for your child to roll small balls. Kneading and shaping the dough helps develop fine motor skills and is simply a lot of fun.

Ingredients

  • 150 g low fat quark (or Greek yogurt)
  • 4 tablespoons mild canola oil
  • 1 egg (organic)
  • 40 g sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 250 g all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 50 g raisins
  • A splash of milk for brushing

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the quark, canola oil, egg, sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl. This is easily done with a simple whisk.
  3. Combine the flour and baking powder, then add them to the wet mixture. Knead everything into a smooth, soft dough.
  4. Gently fold the raisins into the dough. Your child can help wonderfully here by hiding the little berries inside the dough.
  5. Form small rolls from the dough and place them on the baking sheet. Brush the rolls with a little milk to give them a golden brown color.
  6. Bake in the oven for about 15 to 20 minutes. Let the rolls cool completely and test the temperature inside before eating.

Variations and Tips

  • Variation: Instead of raisins, you can use small pieces of dried apricots or chocolate chips.
  • Storage: The rolls keep well in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. They also freeze beautifully and can be quickly reheated in the oven when needed.
  • Family Tip: Brush the rolls with a little egg yolk and sprinkle chopped almonds on top before baking to create a crunchy version for the adults.
  • Texture: For children who dislike chunky textures, you can soak the raisins in warm water and puree them before adding them to the dough.

Allergy and Safety Information

This recipe contains wheat, egg, and dairy, which are common allergens. Always introduce new ingredients one at a time and in small amounts to easily observe any potential reactions. If using nuts as an alternative, keep the choking hazard in mind and only use finely ground nuts for young children. If you have any uncertainties about introducing new foods, always consult your pediatrician.

Nutrition for Little Bakers

The quark provides valuable protein and calcium, which support bone development during this active growth phase. Raisins add a natural sweetness and offer quick energy for the day. Canola oil contains healthy fats that help the body absorb vitamins efficiently.
