- 150 ml lukewarm water
- 1 tsp dry yeast
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 pinch of salt
For decoration:
- 5 cherry tomatoes

- 0.5 red onion
- A few chives or fresh parsley
Preparation
- Mix the flour, water, yeast, two tablespoons of olive oil, and salt in a bowl.
- Knead the dough well for about five minutes until a smooth texture forms.
- Cover the dough and let it rest in a warm place for about 60 minutes.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and press the dough flat onto it.
- Wash the vegetables and cut them into small pieces or strips. Always quarter tomatoes for young children.
- Now your child can get creative and place the vegetable pieces on the dough to make flowers or small trees.
- Brush the artwork with the remaining olive oil and bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius (top and bottom heat) for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Let it cool down well and test the temperature before eating.
Variations and Tips
- Swap vegetables: Zucchini, sweet corn, or mild olives also work beautifully for colorful patterns.
- Storage: The focaccia keeps in the fridge for about two days. You can also freeze it in pieces and reheat them in the toaster when needed.
- For parents: Adults can refine their half of the dough with a little coarse sea salt or chili flakes after baking.
