Kräftigende Flädlesuppe in der Schwangerschaft

Comforting Pancake Soup for Early Pregnancy

PregnancySchwangerschaft 25 min 4Medium
Contains: Gluten, Dairy, Egg

Introduction

A warming soup is often exactly what you need in the early weeks of pregnancy. This classic pancake soup provides gentle energy and important nutrients without overwhelming your stomach. The mild broth is especially soothing when your appetite fluctuates or mild nausea sets in.

Ingredients

For 2 to 3 portions you will need:

  • 100 g spelt flour or all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 200 ml pasteurized milk
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp butter or vegetable oil for frying
  • 800 ml rich vegetable broth or beef broth
  • 1 bunch of fresh chives

Preparation

  1. Place the flour, eggs, milk, and salt in a bowl and whisk everything into a smooth batter.
  2. Let the batter rest for about ten minutes so the flour can absorb the liquid.
  3. Heat a little butter or oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
  4. Pour the batter in portions to cook two to three thin pancakes until golden brown on both sides.
  5. Ensure that the pancakes are completely cooked through.
  6. Roll the slightly cooled pancakes up tightly and cut them into fine strips.
  7. Heat the broth in a pot until it gently simmers.
  8. Wash the chives thoroughly and chop them finely.
  9. Divide the pancake strips among deep bowls, pour the hot broth over them, and sprinkle with the fresh chives.

Good to know

The pancakes can easily be prepared the day before and stored in the refrigerator. If you prefer a bit more vegetables, you can simmer some fine carrot strips in the broth during the last few minutes.

If it is hard right now

For morning sickness or severe heartburn, many women find it helpful to eat several small meals throughout the day. Simply leave out the chives if their smell is too intense for you at the moment. You can also just sip the clear broth in small amounts to gently replenish your fluids.

Note

If you are unsure about which foods are good for you right now, or if you are suffering from severe nausea, it is best to seek medical advice. Your obstetrician, gynecologist, or midwife will gladly offer you personalized guidance.
