Ingredients
- 120 g soft butter (organic recommended)
- 80 g brown sugar (reduced amount for children)
- 1 egg (medium size)
- 200 g all-purpose flour or spelt flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 pinch vanilla powder
- 80 g colorful chocolate lentils (look for natural food coloring)
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (standard top and bottom heat) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Beat the soft butter and sugar together in a bowl until the mixture is creamy and smooth.
- Add the egg and mix it in thoroughly.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, and vanilla powder, then add this to the butter mixture and knead into a smooth dough.
- Form small balls (about the size of a walnut) and place them on the baking sheet with enough space between them, as the cookies will spread slightly.
- Your child can now gently press the colorful chocolate lentils into the dough balls.
- Bake for about 10 to 12 minutes until the edges turn a light golden brown.
- Let the cookies cool completely on a wire rack and check the temperature before eating.
Variations and Tips
- Whole grain twist: Swap half of the white flour for whole wheat flour to add extra fiber.
- Storage: Stored in an airtight container at room temperature, the cookies stay fresh for about a week.
- Freezing: The raw cookie dough freezes beautifully for up to three months and can be thawed in small portions as needed.
- Family Tip: For adults, you can mix chopped nuts or a pinch of cinnamon into a separate portion of the dough.
