Golden Brown Potato Noodles with Unsweetened Applesauce
Especially in the early weeks of pregnancy, your appetite can be quite unpredictable. A simple dish like potato noodles with applesauce is wonderfully gentle on the stomach. It provides quick energy and tastes wonderfully comforting.
Ingredients for 2 to 3 portions
- 500 g potato noodles (Schupfnudeln or gnocchi, from the refrigerated section)
- 1 tbsp butter or canola oil
- 350 g unsweetened applesauce
- A small pinch of cinnamon (optional)
Preparation
- Heat the butter or oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the potato noodles to the pan and spread them out evenly.
- Fry for about eight to ten minutes until golden brown, turning occasionally.
- Pour the applesauce into small bowls and add a pinch of cinnamon if you like.
- Serve the warm potato noodles together with the applesauce.
Good to know
Potato noodles reheat beautifully if you prefer not to eat everything at once. If you need a little more energy, simply sprinkle some ground almonds over the dish.
When it is hard
If you are experiencing strong nausea, you can skip frying and simply warm the potato noodles briefly in hot water. Cold applesauce is often particularly soothing when warm food feels unappealing.
Note
For persistent symptoms or questions about nutrition during pregnancy, it is best to contact your obstetrician, gynecologist, or midwife.
