For about 2 to 3 portions, you will need the following ingredients:
- 250g minced beef (organic preferred)
- 400g potatoes (waxy)
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 small onion
- 1 tbsp canola oil

- 200ml mild vegetable broth (low sodium)
- 1 tsp sweet paprika powder
- 1 tsp dried marjoram
Preparation
- Peel and finely dice the onion. Peel the potatoes and cut them into bite-sized pieces. Wash, core, and dice the bell pepper.
- Heat the canola oil in a large pot. Brown the minced beef until crumbly, then add the diced onion and sauté briefly.
- Stir in the tomato paste and roast gently. Add the potatoes and bell pepper to the pot.
- Pour in the strained tomatoes and vegetable broth. Stir in the paprika powder and marjoram until everything is well combined.
- Cover and let simmer over medium heat for about 20 minutes, until the potatoes are tender.
- Remove the pot from the stove and let the stew cool down. Always check the temperature before serving it to your child.
Variations and Tips
- Swap the veggies: Zucchini or carrots also work wonderfully in this stew instead of bell peppers.
- For the whole family: Adults can easily season their portions at the table with a little salt, pepper, or chili flakes.
- Storage: The stew can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.
- Freezing: You can easily freeze this dish, and it will stay fresh in the freezer for up to three months. Freezing in portion-sized containers works best.
Allergy and Safety Information
This recipe contains celery, which is often found in vegetable broth. Always introduce new foods in small amounts to observe any potential reactions carefully. Make sure the minced beef is cooked through completely. If you have any concerns about your child's diet or potential food intolerances, please consult your pediatrician.
Nutritional Benefits
This dish provides valuable iron from the minced beef, which is important for oxygen transport in the body. The bell pepper contributes plenty of vitamin C, helping the body absorb the iron more effectively. Potatoes offer long-lasting energy, giving active children aged three and up the fuel they need for their daily adventures.
