Gepuffter Amaranth mit mildem Birnenmus

Puffed Amaranth with Mild Pear Puree

Snacks5+m 18 min 4 VeganEasy

This gentle pear puree with puffed amaranth is a wonderful snack for a smooth start to solid foods. The natural sweetness of the pear meets nutritious grain. It is a great way for your child to explore new, exciting flavors. This recipe gently expands your menu at home.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe pears (approx. 250 g, peeled and cored)
  • 2 tbsp puffed amaranth (ideally a specific baby product)
  • 1 tsp canola oil (baby weaning oil)
  • A little water for steaming

Preparation

  1. Wash, peel, core, and cut the pears into small cubes.
  2. Steam the pear cubes with a little water in a small pot for about 5 to 8 minutes until soft.
  3. Stir in the puffed amaranth and let the mixture cool briefly so the grain softens.
  4. Blend the mixture and the canola oil very finely using a blender or immersion blender until a smooth, creamy consistency is reached.
  5. Always test the temperature on the back of your hand before feeding.

Variations and Tips

  • Instead of pear, a mild apple works beautifully for this recipe.
  • For older children (around 8 months and up), you can blend the puree less finely or form small, soft balls from the amaranth and puree.
  • The puree can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.
  • You can easily freeze portions in ice cube trays and thaw them as needed.

Allergy and Safety Information

It helps to introduce new ingredients one at a time and in small amounts to easily observe any potential reactions (three-day rule). Please puree the amaranth very finely for babies under eight months to guarantee a smooth consistency. It is best to buy specific amaranth for babies, as it is particularly easy to digest. If you have any uncertainties about introducing solid foods or potential intolerances, please speak with your pediatrician.

Nutritional Information

Pears are particularly mild, low in acid, and gentle on tiny tummies. Amaranth provides valuable plant-based iron and important dietary fiber. The canola oil helps the body absorb the vitamins from the fruit optimally.
