Quick Gnocchi Skillet with Broccoli and Mild Cream Cheese Sauce
Especially in the third trimester of pregnancy, space in your belly is often tight, and heartburn can be a frequent visitor. This mild dish replenishes your energy reserves without sitting heavily in your stomach. Broccoli also provides valuable fiber and folate for you and your baby.
Ingredients
- 400 g gnocchi (from the refrigerated section)
- 1 small head of broccoli (about 300 g)
- 150 g pasteurized cream cheese (plain or mild herbs)
- 100 ml vegetable broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- A pinch of salt, a little nutmeg
Preparation
- Wash the broccoli and cut it into small, bite-sized florets.
- Steam the broccoli florets in a pan with the olive oil and a splash of water until tender, for about five minutes.
- Add the gnocchi and sauté everything together gently for another three minutes.
- Pour in the vegetable broth and stir in the cream cheese until a creamy sauce forms.
- Let the dish simmer briefly, season with a pinch of salt and nutmeg, and serve warm.
Good to know
This dish is wonderfully adaptable. You can easily use zucchini or mild carrots instead of broccoli. Leftover portions keep well in an airtight container in the fridge for a day and taste great when reheated.
If things feel difficult right now
If you are dealing with severe heartburn or low appetite, eating several small meals throughout the day often helps. You can also skip the sauce and simply toss the gnocchi and vegetables in a little butter or oil. This is especially gentle on the stomach.
Note
If you have any questions about your diet during pregnancy or experience persistent discomfort, it is best to consult your obstetrician, gynecologist, or midwife.
