Schnelle Quark-Waffel-Herzen: Ein saftiger Snack für Kinder

Quick Quark Waffle Hearts: A Juicy Snack for Kids

Snacks2+y 25 min 4 VeggieEasy
Contains: Gluten, Dairy, Egg

Introduction

These quick quark waffle hearts are a wonderful snack for children aged three and up. Thanks to the high quark content, they provide valuable protein and calcium for growing bones. They are wonderfully moist, filling, and use significantly less sweetener than classic waffles.

Ingredients

For 2 to 3 portions you will need:

  • 150 g low-fat quark (organic if possible)
  • 2 eggs
  • 50 g soft butter
  • 100 g spelt flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup or agave nectar
  • A pinch of ground vanilla

Preparation

  1. Preheat the waffle iron and grease it lightly if necessary.
  2. Beat the soft butter, eggs, and maple syrup in a bowl until frothy.
  3. Add the low-fat quark and ground vanilla, mixing everything well.
  4. Combine the spelt flour with the baking powder, add to the batter, and stir briefly until a smooth mixture forms.
  5. Pour two to three tablespoons of batter into the waffle iron and bake for about four to five minutes until golden brown.
  6. Let the waffles cool on a wire rack and check the temperature before serving.

Variations & Tips

  • Fruity twist: Simply fold a handful of blueberries or grated apple into the batter.
  • Storage: The waffles will keep in an airtight container in the fridge for about two days. They also freeze exceptionally well and can be reheated directly in the toaster.
  • For the whole family: Adults can dust the waffles with powdered sugar or enjoy them with fresh fruit and cream.
  • Side dish: These waffle hearts taste especially delicious with unsweetened applesauce.

Allergy & Safety Information

This recipe contains eggs, dairy (quark, butter), and gluten (spelt flour). Always introduce new ingredients one at a time and in small amounts to monitor for any reactions. If you choose to add nuts as a topping, ensure they are finely ground for young children to avoid a choking hazard. If you have any questions or uncertainties about your child's diet, always consult your pediatrician.

Nutritional Information

The low-fat quark in this recipe provides plenty of calcium and protein, which are important for building bones and muscles during this active growth phase. Spelt flour offers complex carbohydrates that give long-lasting energy for the afternoon. At the same time, the reduced sweetness helps protect developing taste buds.
