Refreshing Frozen Berry Yogurt Bark for Kids

Snacks2+y 190 min 4 VeggieEasy
Contains: Dairy

Introduction

This frozen berry yogurt bark is a wonderful, refreshing snack for warm days. The cool texture and bright colors bring great joy to many children. At the same time, the combination provides valuable vitamins and calcium for growing bodies. The preparation is straightforward and invites you to get creative in the kitchen together.

Ingredients

For 2 to 3 servings you will need:

  • 300 g plain yogurt (whole milk preferred, organic if possible)
  • 100 g berries (fresh or thawed, e.g., raspberries, blueberries)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup or agave nectar (optional, for a mild sweetness)
  • 1 tsp unsweetened vanilla powder or vanilla extract

Preparation

  1. Line a small baking sheet or a flat dish with parchment paper.
  2. Stir the plain yogurt in a bowl with the maple syrup and vanilla until a smooth, creamy mixture forms.
  3. Spread the yogurt mixture evenly on the parchment paper so it is about one centimeter thick.
  4. Wash the berries, chop them if necessary, and distribute them over the yogurt. It is best to halve large blueberries.
  5. Place the tray in the freezer for at least three to four hours until the mixture is completely firm.
  6. Break the frozen slab into bite-sized pieces. Let the bark thaw for just a moment before eating so it is not too hard for small teeth.

Variations & Tips

  • Fruity variety: Small mango chunks, diced peaches, or mashed banana work wonderfully instead of berries.
  • Storage: The finished bark pieces can be stored in an airtight container in the freezer for up to four weeks.
  • For the whole family: Adults can enhance their portion with chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or a little dark chocolate.
  • Adjusting the texture: For a smoother bite, you can puree the berries beforehand and swirl them gently into the yogurt.

Allergy & Safety Information

This recipe contains milk (yogurt), which is a common food allergen. Always introduce new ingredients one at a time and in small amounts to easily observe any potential reactions. Make sure to halve or quarter round berries like blueberries for young children to prevent choking. If you have any uncertainties about introducing foods or possible allergies, it is best to consult your pediatrician.

Nutritional Information

Plain yogurt is an excellent source of calcium and protein, which are important for bone development at this stage. The berries provide plenty of vitamin C and antioxidants. This nutrient combination supports the immune system and naturally provides energy for the day.
