Seasonal12+m 250 min 4 VeggieEasy
Contains: Dairy, Honey

Introduction

This fruity watermelon yogurt ice cream is the ideal summer snack for hot days. It cools pleasantly, refreshes naturally, and offers a wonderful way to introduce your child to new textures. The combination of fresh fruit and mild yogurt also provides valuable energy for little explorers, while the whole family can enjoy this delicious treat.

Ingredients

Yields approx. 4 small popsicles:

  • 200 g seedless watermelon
  • 150 g plain yogurt (whole milk)
  • 1 tsp honey (optional, safe from 12 months)
  • 1 splash of fresh lemon juice

Preparation

  1. Cut the watermelon into small chunks and remove any remaining seeds.
  2. Place the melon pieces, plain yogurt, splash of lemon juice, and honey into a blender.
  3. Puree everything finely until a smooth, creamy mixture is formed.
  4. Pour the mixture into small popsicle molds and insert the sticks.
  5. Place the ice cream in the freezer for at least 4 hours until completely frozen.
  6. Let the ice cream thaw slightly before serving so it is not too cold and comfortable for your child to eat.

Variations & Tips

  • Fruity variety: Simply swap the watermelon for ripe strawberries or peaches.
  • Storage: The ice cream easily keeps in the freezer for up to two months.
  • For the whole family: Add some finely chopped mint or a dash of lime juice to the adult portions.
  • Adjusting texture: If your child prefers using a spoon, you can freeze the mixture in small cups and serve it as a refreshing frozen dessert.

Allergy & Safety Information

This recipe contains milk (yogurt), which is a common allergen. Always introduce new ingredients one at a time and in small amounts to observe any potential reactions. Honey is not safe for children under 12 months due to the risk of infant botulism. When using nuts or seeds, always be mindful of choking hazards and only use them finely ground. If you have any uncertainties about introducing solid foods or potential allergies, consult your pediatrician.

Nutrition Information

Watermelon provides plenty of hydration and important vitamin C for the immune system. The plain yogurt adds valuable calcium and protein, supporting healthy bone development. A wonderful mix to deliciously supplement the nutritional needs of active toddlers on warm days.
