Soft Banana Oatmeal Cookies for Babies

Snacks5+m 35 min 4 VeganEasy
Contains: Gluten

Introduction

These soft banana oatmeal cookies are a wonderful snack for babies who are exploring new textures. With just two ingredients, they offer a gentle way to introduce solid foods. The natural sweetness of the banana makes them very appealing, while the oats provide valuable energy.

Ingredients

  • 2 very ripe bananas (preferably organic, with brown spots on the peel)
  • 100 g quick oats (rolled oats)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mash the ripe bananas in a shallow bowl using a fork until a smooth puree forms.
  3. Fold the quick oats into the mashed banana and mix everything well. Let the mixture rest for about 10 minutes so the oats can soften.
  4. Use a teaspoon to place small portions onto the baking sheet and press them down slightly.
  5. Bake the cookies in the oven for about 12 to 15 minutes until they are lightly golden brown.
  6. Always let them cool completely and check the temperature before offering them to your child.

Variations & Tips

  • For a smoother texture, you can pulse the oats in a blender briefly before mixing. This is especially helpful for babies just starting with finger foods.
  • Stir in a teaspoon of unsweetened applesauce for a fruity twist.
  • Store the baked cookies in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.
  • These cookies freeze beautifully. You can thaw them individually as needed.
  • For older children or adults, add a pinch of cinnamon or chopped nuts for extra flavor.

Allergy & Safety Information

  • Oats contain gluten. Always introduce new ingredients one at a time and in small amounts to monitor for any reactions.
  • Never leave your child unattended while eating to prevent choking.
  • Never use honey for babies under 12 months, as it can be dangerous.
  • Any nuts used for older children must be finely ground to avoid a choking hazard.
  • If you have any concerns about starting solid foods, please consult your pediatrician.

Nutritional Information

Oats are an excellent source of fiber and provide important plant-based iron for your baby. Bananas offer natural energy and contain potassium, which supports healthy growth. Together, they make a nutritious snack that is gentle on your baby's digestion.
