Warm Semolina Porridge with Stewed Pears
During pregnancy, many women crave warm, comforting meals. This semolina porridge with soft pear pieces is gentle on the stomach and provides steady energy. It works beautifully as a breakfast or a soothing snack.
Ingredients
For two to three portions, you will need:
- 500 ml pasteurized milk (or plant-based alternative)
- 50 g semolina
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or sugar
- 1 pinch of cinnamon
- 2 ripe pears
- 1 teaspoon butter or mild oil
- A small splash of water
Preparation
- Wash, peel, and core the pears, then cut them into small cubes.
- Simmer the pear cubes in a small pot with the butter and a splash of water for about ten minutes until soft.
- In a second pot, slowly bring the milk to a boil.
- Whisk the semolina quickly into the boiling milk.
- Remove the pot from the heat and let the porridge thicken for five minutes.
- Stir in the maple syrup and serve the porridge topped with the warm pears and a pinch of cinnamon.
Good to know
The porridge stores well in the fridge for the next day. You can easily reheat it on the stove with an extra splash of milk.
When things feel hard
If you are dealing with heartburn or a sensitive stomach, simply leave out the cinnamon. The stewed pears also taste wonderful on their own and are very mild on the digestive system.
