Introduction
This alcohol-free punch is a wonderful drink for cold winter days or a cozy holiday season. With unfiltered apple juice and fresh oranges, it provides valuable vitamin C, which feels especially good during chilly, wet weather. The mild, warm flavor invites the whole family to take a relaxing break together.
Ingredients
- 500 ml unfiltered apple juice (organic preferred)
- 200 ml mild water or unsweetened fruit tea
- 1 organic orange
- 1 cinnamon stick (Ceylon cinnamon)
- 1 pinch ground cloves (optional)
Preparation
- Wash the organic orange thoroughly with hot water, dry it, and cut it into thin slices.
- Pour the apple juice and water or fruit tea into a pot and warm it up slowly.
- Add the orange slices, the cinnamon stick, and a pinch of ground cloves.
- Let everything simmer gently over medium heat for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
- Remove the pot from the stove and take out the cinnamon stick and orange slices.
- Let the punch cool down, and always check the temperature before serving to ensure it is pleasantly warm and not too hot.
Variations & Tips
- Instead of apple juice, you can easily use a mild pear juice.
- For parents, the punch can be wonderfully enhanced with a splash of black tea or a pinch of ginger.
- The finished punch keeps in the fridge for about two days. You can simply warm it up slightly when needed.
- If your child enjoys the orange pieces, you can leave a few soft, cooled slices in their cup.
Allergy & Safety Notes
- This recipe is free from the most common allergens.
- Always introduce new ingredients one at a time and in small amounts to easily observe any potential reactions.
- Please note: Honey is not safe for children under 12 months, as it can contain dangerous bacteria.
- Nuts or seeds (if you modify the recipe) must only be used finely ground due to the choking hazard for young children.
- If you have any uncertainties regarding nutrition or introducing new foods, please speak with your pediatrician.
Nutritional Information
The unfiltered apple juice and fresh oranges provide important vitamin C for the body. This vitamin supports the immune system, which is particularly valuable for toddlers during the winter months. Mild spices like Ceylon cinnamon create a comforting feeling in the tummy without overwhelming the system.
